At the beginning of the game
Your goal is to get the attacking special block first and attack your
enemy before they can attack you. This will make the game under your
control. In order to do that, if the setting of the game is
1 special/1 line, make 1 line first. If the setting is
1 special/2 lines, make 2 lines first. If the setting is
1 special/4 lines, try to make 4 lines first if possible.
During the Game
Try to build more than 1 line constantly during the game because
you can both get special blocks and add 1 line or more to all players.
Don't be too greedy to build a tetris unless you are sure your
opponents won't attack you with 'Q' or 'R'.
Bad Block at the Beginning of the Game
and are 2 blocks that
people do not like to get at the beginning
of the game. What people usually do is to slip the next block under that bad block. Like this
before
after
This strategy might usefull if you play 1 special/4 lines or pure classic
game, but I suggest you not to use this strategy if you play 1 special/1 line
or 1 special/2 lines game. There are 3 main reasons why you should not use
this strategy.
First, it takes more time to slip the next block under this bad block.
Second, the risk is too big. When you try to slip the next block
under the bad block, you might miss it.
Third, if your next block is another bad block, what will you do?
Will you try slip it under the first bad block? Then you
will waste your time. Or will you put it on top of the first bad block?
How about the 3rd block that you get is another bad block again?
You must be very confused, right? :-)
Here is my suggestion...
1. If the bad block is the red one, put it horizontally at the left end
of your field. If it is the blue one, put it horizontally at the
right end of your field. Like this
and
PS: a hole is the blank area under the bad block, and
the bridge is the square above that hole
2. If it is possible, do not block the hole under the bridge by putting
the next block above the bridge. Like this

3. Now, your goal is to clear the second row first by ignoring the first
row. Remember, do not care to fill in the first row, clear the second
row first, and do not block the hole under the bridge by putting
the next block above the bridge. Here are the screenshots of
few examples:
Hole and Bridge
I often saw people blocked their bridge instead of remove it. Here
is what I mean by bridge and hole.

After you remove the bridge, you can fill in the hole, add
couple lines to all, open another bridge, and add another lines
to all.
I have ever played with someone who has 2 S's blocks and both his
and my field were very high. I just kept concentrate not blocking
my bridge, try to remove it, filled in the hole so that I could add
1 or 2 lines to him continuously, and when I got 'Q' or 'R', I
screwed up his field so he could not make a tetris. He was very
frustated and screwed up his field many many times and when his
field was too high, he switched his field with mine. Then, I again
kept remove the bridge, add 1 or 2 lines continously, and he use
his 'S' block again. I kept adding 1 or 2 lines continuously again
until he died. :)
The most important lesson in here is that don't block the bridge,
try to remove it instead. If you do this strategy, you will amaze
how quickly your field is going down. Try to practice by playing
pure classic. If you can survive in pure classic, then you should
survive in classic + special style.
